On my hunt for knife sharpeners around the world I came across a gentleman on Etsy by the name of Zeljko Mihanovi. He runs a carpentry shop out of his house and makes an assortment of handcrafted items. One of those items just so happens to be a knife sharpener, that's not something you see very often. The sharpener is similar to other designs I've seen by folks who've made their own. Zeljko says these do pretty well for him and he's shipped them to many countries around the world from his home in Croatia. This sharpener is quite unique and it's a creative take on what we typical think of when we hear guided knife sharpener.

The sheer number of knife companies and blades available is insane, and makes shopping even harder. There are some companies that have been under our nose the whole time, and we simply overlooked them. One knife brand that I never thought to give a try was QSP Knives. I've always been a Buck, Kershaw, Gerber, etc kind of guy. Always stuck to the mainstream and didn't dabble too much, mainly because of the unknown.

QSP Knives has been around for more than a decade and have been an OEM for other companies. It wasn't until 2017 that the company started producing knives under its own name. The company's name is an acronym for what they stand for, Quality, Service, and Price. I love a company who's pride and dedication is part of their name.

I'm a huge fan of budget blades; you show me a good deal on a knife and I'm there. Budget blades are often sought  after because they have good form, function and are very affordable. When looking at budget blades one company that caught my attention is Sport Manufacturing Group. SMG is  an American based company that produces pneumatic guns as well as a pocket knife line by the name of Steel Will.

SMG is quite passionate about their pocket knives and it shows. They have a huge range of knives that cover many different categories and use premium materials. Being a budget guy I wanted to check out a knife I had been hearing a lot about and that's the Cutjack. The Cutjack is  a sub $50 knife that is aimed at the everyday carry crowd and hits home on so many levels.

Camillus knives is one of the oldest knife  companies in United States and has been around since 1876. They unfortunately filed for bankruptcy is 2007 and was purchased by Acme United. They no longer make their knives domestically with the exception of a few fixed blades. Since the Acme relaunch of the brand, they have produced quite an array of mostly budget offerings. That's not a bad thing as long as materials and quality are decent.

One of those budget offerings that we are looking at today is the Inject Folding Knife. The Inject caught my eye because it includes two pocket sized tools included in the handle. The company does have a full sized multitool available but it's simply a rebrand from another manufacturer and not unique to Camillus.

I've been a blade junkie ever since my first pocket knife about 20 years ago. I didn't get into knives before that because I was a city boy and my dad never carried one. Since my first one I've been hooked, didn't know how I got along before I had one. Using your rudimentary claws and teeth are far less effective than a sharp blade. I'm always on the hunt to the perfect edc blade. I want something light, easy to deploy and holds an edge well.

Case knives have been a name synonymous with family, tradition and quality since 1889. They built their reputation on quality craftsmanship and are proudly made in their Bradford factory here in the USA. Living here in the southeastern United States the company has representation on almost every corner of these small towns and is the preferred carry by many a man worth his salt.

Case pretty much has the traditional knife market cornered but they hadn't ventured into anything moden and frankly didn't seem to care. Something changed and Case surprised us all with new offerings in 2021. The Kinzua is Case's take on a modern EDC folder and they didn't spare the high quality treatment either.

Benchmade founder Les DeAsis has passed away on february 21st following a stroke suffered a week before.

There are a lot of things in life that I don't like and I could easily fill volumes of books with my complaining about things in general and with alarming specificity. I really could, as evidenced by the fact that this website has completely grown from my ability to complain about things and tell the world what I like and, more often what I don't like.
