Olight Arkfeld Pro Featured

Written by

Olight has always been a polarizing brand. You either love them for their bold designs and accessible products, or you critique them for not meeting the exacting standards of flashlight purists. I stand firmly in the "love them" camp. Diving into the flashlight world has been an adventure for me, and while I’m learning the finer details like CRI ratings and emitter types, I know most people care about three things: Is it bright? Is it durable? How often do I need to charge it? The Olight Arkfeld Pro delivers on all three, but it’s also packed with unique features that set it apart.

When I first saw the Arkfeld Pro, I was struck by its shape. A flat flashlight? It was so different from anything I’d seen before. We’re used to round flashlights because batteries are round, but Olight broke the mold here. The Arkfeld Pro is slim, flat, and feels more like a TV remote than a flashlight. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s comfortable to hold, intuitive to use, and pocket-friendly in a way most flashlights aren’t.

What I Love

The design immediately stood out to me. The flat shape means it doesn’t roll off surfaces (a pet peeve of mine with round flashlights), and it fits neatly into a pocket without bulging awkwardly. The diagonal grooves along the sides are a nice touch—they add just enough texture to keep the light secure in hand without feeling overly aggressive. The deep-carry clip is a nice touch. It’s long enough to keep the light secure and even doubles as a hat clip for hands-free use.

One of my favorite aspects of the Arkfeld Pro is how intuitive it is to use. The rotating switch lets you toggle between UV, laser, and white light modes naturally, even while wearing gloves. At first, I worried the switch might accidentally move in my pocket since it faces my leg, but I haven’t had any issues so far. Lockout mode also provides peace of mind by preventing accidental activations.

The five brightness levels are straightforward to access. Pressing and holding the power button while the light is on cycles through the different levels. It’s simpler than the multiple-tap systems some other lights use, and the last-used brightness (except turbo) is remembered when you turn the light back on. I find this feature incredibly handy since I don’t have to fumble with settings each time.

Performance in Real-World Scenarios

The textured sides make a big difference in wet conditions. I’ve used the Arkfeld Pro during unexpected rain, and I could maintain a solid grip without any slipping. The buttons are also easy to access, even when wet. Cold weather, however, introduces another challenge. When my hands are numb, operating any flashlight is tough, but the Arkfeld Pro holds up well. I'm about to toggle that switch and operate the button easily.

I’ve found the variety of lighting modes surprisingly versatile. Moonlight mode (1 lumen) is perfect for sneaking around at night without disturbing anyone, like rummaging through a bag or finding something in the sock drawer. Low, medium, and high modes handle most tasks, from walking the dogs to searching for something in a dark corner. Turbo mode is where the Arkfeld Pro really shines—1,300 lumens of pure power that’s perfect for quick bursts of maximum visibility, like lighting up the trail ahead or inspecting a larger area. Just don’t expect it to last long without heating up.

UV and Laser Features

The UV light is a tool I didn’t realize I’d appreciate until I started using it. It’s incredibly useful for identifying hidden stains, tracking fluids during work, or even checking currency. As for the green laser, it’s just plain fun—and functional. I’ve used it to point out constellations and playing with the pets. It’s a neat feature, one that adds extra versatility to this impressive light.

What I’d Improve

While I love the magnetic charging system for its convenience, I’d appreciate a USB-C charging option as a backup. If I lose the magnetic base or forget it on a trip, I’m out of luck.

Another improvement would be a rubberized button. While the current button works well, a tactile surface would make it easier to locate in complete darkness or when wearing gloves.

Final Thoughts

The Olight Arkfeld Pro redefines what a flashlight can be. Its flat design, versatile lighting options, and ease of use make it a standout for everyday carry. It’s compact enough to slip into a pocket unnoticed, durable enough to handle the rigors of daily life, and functional enough to tackle almost any task.

What I appreciate most is how effortlessly it fits into my routine. Whether it’s walking the dogs at night, sneaking through the house without waking anyone, or tackling outdoor tasks in unpredictable weather, the Arkfeld Pro just works. It’s not just another flashlight—it’s a tool I reach for without hesitation, and for me, that says everything.
